About this Collection of text and images

This blog is many things to me. First and foremost is that I am not a writer, English was my worst subject in school and it will be very apparent here. I tend to ramble about subjects instead of nice thought out articles, hope you can handle that. Here I will write things that interests me such as photography, copyrights and latest news I find on the web.

Often I will show an image that I think is great or highlight a photographer that I feel deserves much props. My personal guidelines for myself on this will be to always do my best to find the creator of the image and let them know that I am featuring it or them, if they have issues with it I will gladly remove it. I will always credit the creator and link back to their site when I can. I see it on the stumble upon sites, where one person sees an image on another’s page and rather then following links back to the original artist they give credit to the last ’stumbler’ for the great find, and the artist gets lost.

I know a hobby of many bloggers is to post images the find and like. Especially with sites like stunbleupon and even dA adding a ‘blog this’ option to images it is becoming a common thing. Being a photographer and big on copyright issues I have mixed feelings on this. BUT it boils down to with this modern age of the internet if the person is truly showcasing it as an image they love, and the give proper credit and link back to original source….I have become ok with it.

By default I will hotlink to their image unless they give permission for me to store it on my server. You see for me that may be the biggest issue, even if they give credit..etc..but they still take it and put it on their own server (often renaming it) just doesn’t feel right to me. Sites like dA allow hotlink so I think its only fair to provide the path back to the artist and not ‘take’ their image. Maybe Im just being a little bit picky there, oh well.

As you will see on my writings and what I just wrote, I am big on copyright issues. All my images are copyrighted and I do not allow modifications, created into avatars or backgrounds and such. I do sell prints and license images for commercial use. As I mentioned Im not against my images being featured somewhere as long as I get credit and please let me know Images by others here are most likely used with permission, that permission to me does not translate to permission to everyone so please visit the artist and talk to them.
